Local Outreach Events
50-Plus Club begins new season Sept. 15
Montezuma's 50-Plus Club will kick off the new year with a noon lunch and program on Wednesday, Sept. 15, in First Presbyterian Church. The meal is free, but you're asked to call Darla at 623-3275 if you're planning to attend so they know how many to prepare for. The monthly event is an outreach of the church. Anyone may attend - it's not necessarily for people over 50. The number refers to how many - and more - they hope to greet each time!
Pantry can always use help
Donations of food and money are needed by the Montezuma Food Pantry. Tax-deductable donations can be sent to P.O. Box 189, Montezuma, Iowa 50171. Food can be left at the Food Pantry at 411 East Main Street in downtown Montezuma during office hours or by contacting Virgil Scott at 623-2776.
Mobile food bank is a hit!
Access to food is easier in Poweshiek County with the addition of a mobile food pantry. Food pantries in Montezuna, Grinnell and Brooklyn have combined to make this mobile pantry available. The mobile pantry will be open the first Wednesday of each month. Hours are 4:30 p.m. until the supply runs out. The next session is Wednesday, July 7. If you are in need of food or assistance, please consider taking advantage of this opportunity. For more information, contact Kim Kolars at 641-528-4245 or 641-990-0734.
